Tayla Wade

My name is Tayla Wade. I served on staff and through volunteering in various capacities from summer 2006-2014. My husband Braden and I now live in South Carolina with our two sons. Though our ability to serve in person has dwindled over the years, we continue to offer prayer support and financial and practical giving.

When and how did you first get involved with Lighthouse Christian Camp?
The camp director spoke with our youth group at Stevens Street Baptist Church about opportunities to volunteer and serve as summer staff. I volunteered for the first time in summer of 2006 and then was able to be involved all through the year for discipleship too!

Where are you originally from?
DeKalb County in Tennessee

What is your current involvement at Lighthouse?
Prayer and Financial Support

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Braden and I were only engaged for 11 days! God orchestrated a beautiful wedding for us right where we’d ministered for so many years–at Camp 2’s chapel!

Who inspires you to be better?
My husband’s steadfastness is a constant source of challenge and encouragement to me.

How many siblings do you have and where do you fall in the order?
I’m the only child of Mom and Dad, but youngest of my other siblings.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
To Lighthouse, to visit family, or to the beach!

What do you like most about Lighthouse?
God uses it to bring the hope and light of Christ to children all over Middle Tennessee. In the words of one of my campers, “Is this what it feels like to be a Christian?? I feel so much lighter now!” Jesus sets the captives free every day at Lighthouse. His love is mighty.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Just about anywhere! I love a break from cooking.

How have you been blessed by Lighthouse?
Working at Lighthouse was such an incredible opportunity to put faith into action, to put boots on the ground, serve alongside brothers and sisters sharing the gospel and making disciples. Every day it’s, “Do I believe Jesus is enough to heal my camper whose parents choose drugs over her? Do I believe Jesus is steady enough for my camper in foster care? Do I believe Jesus is strong enough for me when I’m exhausted? Do I believe Jesus is mighty enough to save the biggest of sinners? Yes, I believe. And YES. He IS!”

What is the best advice you have ever received?
You will never regret giving all you have to God. He doesn’t waste His saints.

What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of Lighthouse?
JOY, Laughter, Freedom from bondage!
