Irene Wright

My name is Irene Wright and I am 18 years old. My birthday is July 18 and I have lived in Nashville for a large part of my life. I recently moved to Cleveland, Tennessee to go to college. I am currently enrolled at Lee University and just finished my first year. I am majoring in Pre-k to 3rd grade education. I would love nothing more than to be a teacher and help kids see how much potential they have.

When and how did you first get involved with Lighthouse Christian Camp?
I got involved in Lighthouse from my siblings who also went to Lighthouse. I started as a camper when I was 8 and have gone almost every year since. In 2019 I became a junior counselor.

Nashville, Tennessee

What is your current involvement at Lighthouse?
Counselor

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Even though I have brownish hair now, when I was born I had bright red hair.

Who inspires you to be better?
My mom and step-dad inspire me to do better everyday.

How many siblings do you have and where do you fall in the order?
I have a total of 3 siblings. I have an older sister named Elodie, an older brother named Michael, and a younger step-sister named Aliah.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Florida. I know it doesn’t sound exciting or anything, but I have never seen the beach before and would love to be able to one day.

What do you like most about Lighthouse?
I love that it is Christ centered and that they help under privileged kids know that there is a place that they can go to and forget the struggles at home and enjoy being a kid.

What is your favorite restaurant?
I would have to say Rodizios Brazilian Steakhouse, because they give you an endless amount of meat.

How have you been blessed by Lighthouse?
I have been in multiple homes and homeless shelters and that was a constant to me. I loved having a week to escape from my everyday life to be able to be with friends and learn more about God.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
It is more important to be a private success and a public failure than a public success and a private failure.

What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of Lighthouse?
God, Fun, and John 3:16 because it’s on all the sweatshirts.
