Jonae

Heyyy I’m Jonae. An international student from The Bahamas studying Hospitality Management with a focus in Food and Beverage Management. Over the years I have developed a passion for encouraging youth to live a meaning life for Christ by being an example, mentor and listening ear.
I love to sing and find great purpose in giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate than me.

When and how did you first get involved with Lighthouse Christian Camp?
In May 2022 I inquired about the Kitchen Manager Position. Although working in the kitchen does not give me a lot of time to interact with the children I believe the feeding of hot hearty meals is my act of service to the children, helping them to be able to focus on the message spoken in chapel and actively participate in the activities throughout the day.

Where are you originally from?
The Bahamas

What is your current involvement at Lighthouse?

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I lived on an island my entire life but still have a small fear of the ocean.

Who inspires you to be better?
My grandmother ( RIP 01/23/21) She was my biggest cheerleader.  My mother also inspires me to be more patient and turn the other cheek, not treating others how they treat me.

I am the eldest of three children

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

How have you been blessed by Lighthouse?
In this short space of time, I have bonded with individuals young & old that I know I will continue to have a long lasting relationship with for years to come. Here I have made sisters and mothers I did not know I needed.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
It’s actual a scripture, reminding me the race is not for the swift but to those that endure to the end. This encourages me to focus on my own path to spiritual, professional and personal success without comparing myself to those around me.

What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of Lighthouse?
Love, Heart for children and Givers
