Bella Baker

Wellll I am 18, I am currently a senior at White County High School. So this summer I will officially be able to say I graduated!!! I plan on going to college after I graduate, just not sure where yet. Also very unsure of what career I want to go into, but I’m trusting God through the process. I am super involved at my school, and I love coming back to camp throughout the year to be with campers and to fellowship with my other counselors! Umm so yeah, that’s a little about me. And this summer will be my second year on summer staff at Lighthouse. And I am so excited to see all that the Lord is going to do! So yeah 🙂

When and how did you first get involved with Lighthouse Christian Camp?
My sister, Khloe went to lighthouse to be on staff and she told me all about it, so I said “Hey, I should check it out!” So I did, and I was on staff! And now I’m going back again this year!

Where are you originally from?
McMinnville, TN

What is your current involvement at Lighthouse?
Summer Staff Counselor

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I don’t like pears. I love apples, but not pears.

Who inspires you to be better?
My dad. He shows me what it’s like to strive to be like Jesus. Is he perfect? No, definitely not, but he is always a constant in my life showing me passion for Christ. He is always asking questions and learning more about who God is, and he always aims to keep growing in his faith. This is what I strive to do, so he inspires me in this way.

How many siblings do you have and where do you fall in the order?
I have 4 siblings, and I am right in the middle!!

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Greece. It is so beautiful! And it is just my dream place to travel!

What do you like most about Lighthouse?
I love the amazing, Godly friendships you make. And I love the wonderful mentors you meet. I have met such incredible people who have helped me in my walk with the Lord!

What is your favorite restaurant?
Taco Bell! Many may say that Taco Bell is not a restaurant, that it is fast food, but they are wrong. It is delicious. *chef’s kiss* Also, two other great options are Olive Garden and Cheesecake Factory, so if anyone wants to take me out to dinner at any of those places, you are surely welcome.

How have you been blessed by Lighthouse?
Lighthouse has shown me in so many ways how truly amazing God is. Lighthouse has been a place of light in my life from seeing how He moves in the campers’ (and counselors’) lives each week, to seeing how the community of camp works together. We can’t do anything alone, we need our fellow Christians, and we need God to step in in every situation. And He has shown me this at Lighthouse.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Maybe God has given us circumstances to make us weak because when we’re weak, we rely on Him more. It was crazy when I heard this because I just thought, wow that is so true. I need to rely on Him fully, all of the time. So my prayer now is for God to be my strength, even if that means He has to make me weak. And I go back to this in times of struggle, and I think, maybe this is God saying that I need to put my complete faith in Him because I can’t do it alone. And when I try to do it alone, I’m gonna end up failing every time.

What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of Lighthouse?
Home. Comfort. Light.
