Michael Kilgore

I grew up in NC as a troubled kid from a broken home. We had very little… money, possessions or hope. If I had only had a Lighthouse Christian Camp in my life.
I currently live on Phifer Mountain in Cookeville, TN with my wonderful wife Kelly and our cat Boots. Together, Kelly and I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. We attend The River Community Church in Cookeville. I’m incredibly humbled that God would allow me to serve Him in full-time ministry and I’m thankful that He gives us second and third and even more chances to get it right.

When and how did you first get involved with Lighthouse Christian Camp?
I first came to Lighthouse with a men’s group from our local church for a prayer breakfast in 2004.

Where are you originally from?
Born in Scituate Massachusetts. Grew up for the most part in the sand hills of North Carolina.

What is your current involvement at Lighthouse?
I’m humbled and honored to serve as the Executive Director of Lighthouse Christian Camp Ministries.

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I used to sing in Choir and groups in our church.

Who inspires you to be better?
Jesus and His death on the cross for my sins. Also…. My wife Kelly.

How many siblings do you have and where do you fall in the order?
I have 2 brothers and a sister and I am the baby!

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
As I pondered this question… I really couldn’t think of anywhere I’d rather be or want to travel to….. although Kelly would say “anywhere there’s a beach”.

What do you like most about Lighthouse?
I love that the ministries of Lighthouse are exactly what Jesus commanded us to do. To care for the widows and orphans and the lost.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Although I’m at Hardees every day for a biscuit…. I would have to say Shuckums Seafood Grill in Panama City, FL.

How have you been blessed by Lighthouse?
This doesn’t even seem answerable to me because of the long list it encompasses. Lighthouse has given me a passion to reach the unchurched and under-resourced children of Middle TN. A passion to love the dear widows that I’m privileged to serve beside and a passion to care for the children and families in crisis.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
“You can’t coast for a day!” -Dr. Johnny Hunt

What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of Lighthouse?
Love, Honor, Service
